The Housing Ministry Case Manager is a multi-faceted position that provides supportive services to homeless adults and households, connecting them to permanent housing, mainstream benefits, and local resources in the community. Catholic Charities has multiple homeless-specific grants, some of which have different eligibility criteria, but all strive to end homelessness and offer permanent housing stability to qualified candidates. Populations served include homeless Veterans, youth ages 18-24, victims of domestic violence, and single adults.

Memphis Area Legal Services

Intake & Outreach Coordinator SSVF

Memphis Area Legal Services seeks an Intake & Outreach Coordinator; a termed full-time position performing intake duties and handling outreach efforts as part of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. The SSVF Program provides intensive case management and supportive services to Veteran families experiencing homelessness or in imminent risk of becoming homeless. This position ends September 30, 2019.

The Intake & Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for the identification of unsheltered and temporarily sheltered homeless veterans. Duties include prescreening and assisting with the completion of enrollment applications for the Veterans and their families. The goal will be to assess the needs of homeless veterans and connect them to housing and supportive services to maintain long term housing sustainability through services provided by the SSVF program.


• At least one years' experience in homeless services or related social services field. Excellent
  verbal and written communication skills.

• Computer experience and skills in word processing and databases required.

• Understanding and appreciation of the mission of the SSVF program.

• Team player who has superior client skills as well as capacity to engage' in critical thinking and analysis of program and service delivery.

• Flexibility: ability to adjust to the diverse needs of clients.

• Excellent attention to administrative detail.

• Highly responsible and able to work with independence.

• Ability to positively engage with prospective clients, other staff, and community partners.

• Strong public speaking ability.

• Travel Required: Own vehicle with a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Memphis Area Legal Services

SSVF Case Manager

Memphis Area Legal Services has a termed full-time position available for an individual with strong case management, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment for the position of Case Manager for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. This position ends September 30, 2019.

The SSVF Case Manager provides intensive case management and supportive services to veteran households and their families. The Case Manager will assist the veteran households to obtain and/or maintain housing through community outreach, intensive case management, coordination of service provision and obtaining VA or public benefits for housing sustainability.


• Person served in the United States Military or experience working with Veterans preferred.

• Minimum of B.A. in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field.

• Preferably holds a Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Case Manager, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience working with homeless, low-income veterans and their families will be a plus.

• Experience working in social services or related field.

• Strong Oral and Written Communication skills.

• Knowledge of community resources, veterans benefits, substance abuse and mental health issues

• Travel Required: Own vehicle with a valid driver’s license and insurance.
